Missed a date ## What to do if you miss a deadline You missed a filing deadline File as soon as you can. The failure-to-file penalty grows each month the return is late, so a late return beats a later one. You cannot pay in full File on time anyway and pay what you can. Payment plans are available, and we can set one up with you. You received a notice Do not ignore it and do not pay it before reading it.
