The Studio Nope theme is built to keep styles simple and predictable so you can ship new pages without chasing side effects. --- ## Map theme settings to CSS variables One of the easiest ways to keep styles consistent is to map theme settings to CSS variables. Set variables for colors, typography, and spacing, then reference them across components.\[web:267\]\[web:266\] - Define color variables for primary, secondary, background, and accent in a root stylesheet. - Use those variables in buttons, sections, and typography instead of hard-coded hex values. - Update the variables when branding changes; the whole theme adjusts without rewrites. This pattern is commonly recommended for HubSpot themes because it keeps styling decisions in one place instead of scattered across modules and templates.\[web:267\]\[web:199\] --- ## Avoid cloning whole stylesheets into child themes If you use a child theme for customisations, keep CSS changes in the child, not by copying entire parent files. Several HubSpot theme guides warn against cloning full CSS or JS bundles into child themes.\[web:189\]\[web:45\] - Add only what you need in a child.css file. - Use selectors that extend or override specific patterns instead of rewriting everything. - Avoid !important unless you are cleaning up a legacy edge case. The goal is to make the Studio Nope theme easy to update without breaking custom styles, not to fork it into several almost-identical versions. --- ## Watch image sizes and fonts for performance CSS is not the only factor in perceived performance; images and fonts play a big role. HubSpot’s marketplace requirements set basic thresholds for Lighthouse scores and limit image sizes for good reason.\[web:191\]\[web:192\] - Keep images under one megabyte and use responsive image fields where possible. - Limit the number of web fonts and weights; each extra variant adds cost. - Use built-in lazy loading for below-the-fold images when possible.
